Social media has been a strong tool on helping people in exchanging information. For some, social has been playing a huge part unto their everyday lives. We cannot deny the fact that it did take over us at some point, well how can you escape it with the worlds fast advancement in technology. A world where we cannot live without it. With the rising power technology, the information is getting easier to access, with just a tiny bit of effort exerting from our brain, we can easily find what we need by the help of social media.

Social media might help the family in a good and bad way, either way it’s impact is felt ever since. Social media has been the channel for both family members. Like for example, when your parents are abroad, you can easily contact them and communicate with them as long as you want, but social media has also played an important role in giving out information about calamities to the planet. As for my experience, when typhoon Haiyan or what you called Yolanda shattered the place of Tacloban, I was one of the survivor of that storm, I could say that it was through Facebook message that my mom texted me about something before the typhoon struck us, it was really unfortunate that the signal was cut because of the typhoon. Another example is that the Philippine TV news can easily post news on the social media so that other families who doesn’t watch or they don’t have television, they can confirm the news on the social media, and there are lots of people to be asked there.

As I mentioned, the government has been using the social media to post articles about the current issues bit just in the country but around the globe. An example of it is the Facebook page of GMA news, they inform people there about certain things and especially when the weather has been not that good, they update people there for they know that people would be visiting them. Another thing, they share information such as what to do such thing in case a calamity happens. With this help, there may be less casualty because of social media.

With our advance technology, we ourselves can easily share information by the help of social media. Unlike before, we still need to pay a money so that the information you want to share is to be shared. And it’s on TV, Radio, Newspaper. But not everyone is satisfied to watch the news, or others are too lazy, or they don’t give time to listen to radio or even read the newspaper. That’s why its really a huge and a very important thing that happened. We might not see it’s improvement, but we can clearly see that we feel the change from the past until now and in the future. So whether it changes the future or not, it’s part of survival and we must do it as long as we can for that’s what a human being is. Change to survive or change others to survive.

Poetry: How Do I Love Thee

The title of the poem is How do I Love Thee. It is written by Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Born in 1806 at Coxhoe Hall, Durham, England, Elizabeth Barrett Browning was a celebrated English poet of the Romantic Movement. Elizabeth was the oldest of twelve children. Elizabeth Barrett Browning died in Florence on June 29, 1861. i think the tone and the mood of the poem is love, because from the very first line, it says “How do I love thee, let me count the ways”. This love that she feels is true and it’s for Robert Browning. And I think the love was really eternal because she really wants to commit herself on loving that person. And also it’s kind of sad because of the last lines, “I love thee with the breadth, smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose, I shall but love thee better after death.” The rhyme scheme of the poem is ABBA ABBA CD CD CD.

Elizabeth Browning convey the poem to the man she love all her heart, it’s Robert Browning. Elizabeth even wrote fourty-fiur sonnets just to express her love to Robert. Elizabeth was 7 years older than Robert so at that time it was a hard situation if they will decide to be in a deep relationship with each other. in this poem, Elizabeth writes about the love she feels for Robert. And it’s very detailed on how much she loved him.

I think the message that the persona/ Elizabeth wants to deliver was delivered successfully. Because it was clearly love that you can feel when you read it. I think Robert would have been touched upon reading that poem of his lover. Elizabeth was true to her feelings and it turns out to be a great masterpiece.

Prose (Non-Fiction): A Modest Proposal

The author of the story is Dr. Jonathan Swift. He is an Irish author and satirist. Born on November 30, 1667 in Ireland. Jonathan Swift was born into a poor family. Swift died in October 19, 1745 (aged 77). He was a satirist, essayist, political pamphleteer, poet, and a priest. Some of his famous works are: A Tale of a Tub, Drapier’s Letters, Gulliver’s Travels, and A Modest Proposal. His main objective is to awake the people of Ireland into seeing their own deprivation. What causes the author to write the essay is that he wanted the readers to find a workable solution upon the problems of Ireland that he proposes. And I think that it’s because he can see that the Irish people are doing things wrong, even though he proposes negative thoughts on his essay, his proposals was all ironic which is the opposite of what is meant.

Writing the essay ironically is the safest way for Jonathan Swift. At his time, the condition of Ireland and the Irish people was terrible. So for him to be able to talk with his proposals, he used satire and metaphor to convey it to the public in an indirect way. Another reason, the majority of the population in Ireland is poor, with little useful employment. Poverty drives the youths of Ireland into crime, slavery, or become one of the armies of a king in Spain. And he wants to end that. The author’s proposals are: he proposed that babies/ newborn babies should be sold and eaten as a food staple. He proposed that selling infant children will stimulate the economy and provide a much needed source of income to the lower class, who can’t afford to feed their children.

The author supports his proposals, he even weighs the pros and cons of his proposal. And he lists six weighty and obvious advantages. First, his proposal would reduce the number of catholic in Ireland. Second, it would give farmers the means to pay their absentee landlords. Third, it would increase the domestic revenue of Ireland, with no money being sent abroad. Fourth, the parents/ the “breeders” as they are called in the essay would not only receive a generous income, but would also relieved of the expense of raising their children Fifth, this new variety of cuisine would produce fine recipes for culinary gentlemen and their dining establishments. Finally, the possibility of selling one’s children would be an enducement to enter into vital institution of marriage, as parents would better care for their children (and husbands for their pregnant wives) given the happy profits that could be expected from well-nourished infants.

Prose (Fiction): A Day In the Country

The title of the story is “A Day in the Country”. The author of the story is Anton Pavlovich Chekhov. He was born on the 29th of January 1860 and died on the 15th of July 1904 (aged 44). He was a Russian play writer and a short story writer, who is considered to be among the greatest writers of short fiction in history. The characters in the story are Fyokla, Danilka, Uncle Terenty, and Silantysilitch. Fyokla, a little beggar girl of six. The white-haired barefoot child and pale, her eyes are wide open, her lips are trembling. Danilka, fyokla’s brother, a little fellow of eight, with hair as red as ochre and a pale sickly face. Terenty, a tall old man with a thin, pack-macked face, very long legs, and barefoot, dressed in a woman’s tattered jacket. Whle Silantysilitch is the sacristan, he is tverenty’s bosom friend. He is the way for fyokla to find terenty.

A Day in the Country is a story of two orphaned children at play when a storm is going towards their town forcing the people to take refuge. On the other hand, Danilka manages to have his hand stuck in a tree which in need for assistance. Luckily Danilka’s sister Fyokla was able to get some help from the towns cobbler and rescue Danilka. The storm passes and the rest of the afternoon the three of them enjoy the splendors of the country. Danilka is awed by nature and its beauty. I think the theme of the story is that, happiness is not always measured by extravagant things or experiences. Because danilka and fyokla are beggars, they would think that the world is so cruel to them, but when they see the nature after the storm in their town. There they were able to see the beauty. Which we in the city could not really experience. I think the moral of the story is that simplicity is beauty. There are things that others have that you may not afford yet there are things as well that you have which cannot have. It’s your perception.

Well after reading it the 2nd time, I was able to understand it more and I should say that the story is a good one. It has a country vibe and it doesn’t make your brain work that much, like solving things, predicting something. It’s just a simple yet refreshing story. It would have been nice if my mom read that to me when I was young. my favorite line in the story is ” He longs to tell someone all that is haunting him now in the darkness and agitating his soul, but there is no one to tell”. That line is my favorite because  I could see myself upon this line, it’s the same way for me. Sometimes when i’m alone I keep on thinking of the memories I have the good one’s specially and it seems like I wanted to share it yet I don’t show it. Others would tell me to share something yet I would say that I have nothing to share, but deep inside I want to share it. So I have learned a lesson from this. I have people on my side that I can tell or share these memories of mine while danilka don’t have, I think i should not waste this chance of mine.

 

For me the face of the youth today is something that we should really ponder upon. Nowadays the face of the youth is becoming quite terrible and i know that you are aware of that. Some of the youth nowadays  are engaging in the things that they should are not allowed to engage in. And i don’t consider myself as one of those youth that engage in something that they are not allowed to do considering their age. Some people might be thinking that the youth or us is the key of the future generation. But, as i see the youth nowadays, i don’t think that would be the case. Because youth nowadays are into illegal drugs, cigarette smoking, teenage pregnancy for the girls, and for the boys, engaging in a relationships that they are not serious with. For me, the face of the youth is so messy that i feel like not considering myself as one of the youth in the present.

The face of the youth nowadays is not something to be proud of, becuase how can someone be proud of their generation if that generation they are living in is quite chaotic, not literally but in some common ways. Like, the war on drugs, even the the youth nowadays engage in illegal trafficking and for some, they bacome the dealer of drugs. Another thing is the cigarette smoking of the youth. We all know that using cegarette is not a wise thing to do, and cigarette will not only affect your lungs and other organ systems, it also affects the brain of the person using cigarette, in a way that the distrution of oxygen in the brain is not normal becuase of the smoke that the user is enhaling. So at some point, it will affect a person’s way of thinking and for worst it might cause a person to go crazy.

And i think these kind of acts should be stopped now. Not tomorrow, next week, next month, or next year, but now. Now is the time to change the face of the youth, now is the time to change the behaviours and attitudes of these individuals. We might not be the key to a bright future,  but we can be a part of that bright future. We cannot stay like this this, or i could say that those young people should not stay as they are at the present. I apologize if i don’t consider myself as one of those young people, becuase i know that the acts of these people are not the things that i do. And, considering the fact that i have the attitude of the people in the generation y. But, there are also youth that are not the same with the youth i meant in the previous paragraph. There are youth that in their early age they are becomming succusfull already. And they should be the right face of the youth in the present and in the future. And there are also youth that are doing their best in order not to cope with the youth that i meant in the previous paragraph. There are youht that engage theirselves in activities that will make them a better person in the future, and in their every work, they always do their best to not be considered as one of those youth that are really horrible.

 

Hello, I’m Naser Aghaei, 17 years old and I have quite a lot of hobbies. I play volleyball, my favorite team is the womens division of Thailand. My favorite player there is their setter Nootsara. While in the men’s division, my favorite team is Japan, and my favorite player is Yuki Ishikawa. I also love watching movies, especially Studio Ghibli, sci fi, and some actions. The movies that I really love are Spirited away, ponyo, howl’s moving castle, etc. I also enjoy reading bible, my religion is Christian Baptist. My favorite verse in the bible is 2nd Timothy chapter 3 verse 16, All scripture is given by the inspiration of God and it is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness. This blog is for educational purpose, what I’m going to write is my thoughts and ideas that hopefully would help the readers get some knowledge. I’m so excited to share my expertise & knowledge, grow my relationship with other bloggers, and increase my online visibility.
